INSIDE the NUMBERS

Let me explain the extra numbers in the columns that you see when looking at the Dream Team VIII Final Standings with the new point scheme

This was originally just for my info to see if the new point scheme was going to cause a problem with our game this year.  It will not.

It will be different, and definitely exciting!

I then decided to share it with all of you.

From left to right: C = the current position.  Since this is the final standings, this is how it would've looked last year.

R26 = what position you were in at the end of DT VIII - Race 26

R36 = what position you finished in at the end of DT VIII - Race 36

To the far right: Reset # Pre 27 = the new point total number NASCAR would've assigned the Top 10 drivers

27 - 36 = the amount of points that each driver received at the end of that race including additional 5 bonus points if they won.

Total Points - self explanatory

2003 WC Standings (Mid-way down on right) number between POS and DRIVER = their point position after Race 26 last year.

The players that took the biggest hit are those with drivers out of the Top 10 (and greater than 400 points from Kenseth) that did not make the Top 10 "cut" such as T. Stewart (11th & 800+ points behind) and Bill Elliott (16th & 1000+ points behind).

These 2 drivers really kicked it in gear the last 10 races, and many players moved up.  Under the new format, they didn't do as well.

Hope this helps.  It was a lot of work, but fun to put together!
